Arthur William Burgoyne Watherwax (Weatherwax) b: 17 Aug 1895 in Hempstead,Nassau co NY.
He was the son of Joseph Burgoyne Weatherwax (1847-1928) and Mary Elizabeth "Cordelia" Roberts (1852-1916)
He married 1st abt 1916 to Della L. Holbert probably in Winfield,Marion co WV.
Their children were
1. Arthur William Watherwax Jr. b:8 Oct 1921 TN;m: Dorothy J. Ohrman
2. Mary Catherine Watherwax b:1925TN;m: Thomas Hurst Jr.
3. Richard G. Watherwax b:1935 Allegheny,PA
It appears he and Della divorce abt 1935
He married 2nd Elizabeth Waid in Jan 1937 in E. Orange NJ
Their children were:
1.Amelie "Tish" Watherwax b:21 Oct 1937 E. Orange NJ
2. Georgia Waid Watherwax b:7 Aug 1941 E. Orange,NJ;m: William Black in FL
In the R.I. census of 1915 we find Arthur as a recruit for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Training Center in Newport R.I. For part of his life he worked as a Clerk for the Southern Railroad. Arthur d: 15 Mar 1970 in Sarasota co. FL. Arthur appears in USC1920 in Norfolk,VA;USC1930 Mckeesport,Allegheny,PA, USC1940 E. Orange,Essex,NJ. In 1942 he registered for the Draft WWII while living in E. Orange NJ
wife Elizabeth Waid b: 19 Dec 1904 in Jefferson AL;d: Dec 2001 in Sarasota co. FL
Now as ongoing research continues I hope to add more information on this family. I do have the ancestors back to 1710 and some descendants already. I do know that there was a conflict between Arthur and his brother Charles over the proper spelling of their surname. Charles used Weatherwax and Arthur used Watherwax.
