Julia Weatherwalks b:1840

Julia Weatherwalks b:1840 NY,probably in Cromwell,Orange co NY. She was the daughter of Philip Weatherwalks and wife Mary. An additional marriage was found for her to a: John Thompson on 30 Jul 1858 in Passiac co. NJ. Her second husband as listed in my book was Charles Warner they married on 6 Sep 1884 in Pompton,Passiac NJ. I will now try to confirm and children for these couples.

Weatherwax and Cipperly families

During my work on The Weatherwax Genealogy 1710-1930 it became clear there were multi generational marriages and connections to the Sipperly/Cipperly family. I saved this data as my research grew and now am working on a Sipperly/Cipperly Genealogy. This other Palatine family started with the family of  Bernhard Zipperle (Hunters list #844). Like our Weatherwax family numerous spelling variations and miss spellings of the surname exist. Migration patterns for this family as very similar to the Weatherwax family as well.
If you have any Sipperly/Cipperly data you are willing to share or a question etc feel free to share them here. I am also working on the Cipperly/Sipperly message boards at Ancestry.com. Right now I believe I have over 2000 of this family identified and linked back to Bernhard. This will be a much smaller book than the Weatherwax book. I may also start another project in the future on the Grauberger family.

1940 U.S. Census release day

Today at 9am DST NARA will release the 1940 US Census for use. Groups such as FamilySearch.org will be downloading the images for indexing. This should take most of the day for the over 3 million images involved. Volunteer indexers are needed to create the name index for easy searching of this census. You can volunteer at Familysearch.org to help index this census.
 For us old timers finding our ancestors in USC1940 is just like using Microfilm and viewing a geographic location page by page. Those newer to Genealogy will find this method tedious and probably tiresome. Hence the need for Volunteers to index the census. Join the effort anf sign up at Familysearch.org to index. It is easy and you can do as little or much as you want.

Dorothy Ida Weatherwax / Markussen 1914-2012

Dorthy I. Weatherwax/Markussen died on Feb. 26,2012 in North Greenbush,NY.
The daughter of Samuel B. Weatherwax and Lena Smauder and wife of the late James E. Markussen .Services were held on Wednesday Feb. 29,2012 at Salem United Methodist Church West Sand Lake.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery,West Sand Lake,NY

Children of Andrew Weatherwax 1700-1784 and Anna Barbara Loscher

The last child born to this couple was
Andrew Weatherwax b: 16 May 1737 (Family Bible record) he was baptized on 22 May 1739 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Red Hook NY. He married Catharina Reisdorff on 17 Dec 1762 at the Albany Reformed Church in Albany NY. This couple had ten known children, all grew to adulthood and married. He appears on the Tax rolls of 23 Oct 1779 for Schaghticoke, but later moved to the area of present day East Greenbush, Rensselaer co. NY. His family farm still exists and is the site of the Weatherwax Family cemetery.(located on private property owned by the Bink family)
He and many of his family area all buried there. There is a listing on this cemetery on the USGENWEB page for Rensselaer co NY. He wrote a Will on 1 Feb 1821 (a transcription is on the Rensselaer county website). In the History of Sand Lake records there is a letter he wrote dated 2 Feb 1824 indicating he wants to manumet his slave named Jacob Brown, age 21yrs,born unto him a slave. So this is the 2nd known instance of Slave ownership in the family history. It is worth noting that NY passed a law requiring all slave be freed by 1826. Also note that he indicates that Jacob was born unto him a slave indicating he may in fact had at least Jacobs mother as a slave as well!
Andrew died 16 May 1824, and is buried on his farm. His Will written 1 Feb 1821 and probated 22 May 1824 is available.
This was the last known child born to Andrew Weatherwax and his first wife Anna Barbara Loscher. Note that although he was born in 1737, it was not until 1739 two years later that he was baptized. I believe his mother died shortly after his birth and that the baptismal record was after her death. No proof of that but it fits Andrews next marriage and children.

Catharina Weatherwax b: Oct 1736 Red Hook NY; Bap: 1 Nov 1736 St. Pauls Lutheran Church Red Hook NY. She married Johannes (John ) Schneider abt 1754. She died after 1782 and he died 11 Nov 1805 They were living in the Schaghticoke/Pittstown area of Rensselaer co NY. They had eight known children.
John wrote a Will dated 9 Nov 1805 and probated on 27 Jan 1806 Rensselaer co Wills.

Anna Elisabetha Weatherwax b: 21 Feb 1735,probably in Red Hook. Baptized on 9 Apr 1735 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Rhinebeck NY. She married abt 1755 Jacob Christopher Snyder. They had at least six known children. She died sometime after 11 Apr 1774, exact date of death,burial still unknown.
